The Perfect Science Fiction Gift

With the holidays coming up why not buy your friend, family member or loved one the new Sci-Fi Novel "Strolok" by visiting www.scifiblast.blogspot.com

Prologue
The Sun is a powerful force in our Universe. It brings us light, warmth and a promise of a galaxy beyond the stars. Often we associate massive flashes of light with the reflection of our Sun's light bouncing off of another surface.

This is not always the case though, especially if you believe that we are truly not alone in the Universe. When we witness things that we can't readily explain we sometimes turn our heads and shrug our shoulders in a display of apathy.

A display such as this occurred on Friday January 29, 1982 at the Crater Lake National Park just outside of Chemult, Oregon. The snow had been falling steadily for a period of four days. The winds had been whisking about at 40 miles per hour.
Then there was one of those unnatural flashes of light. This created an eerie silence as a lanky boy, just nine years old, seemed to appear from out of that flash. If he had walked to this point there would have been a distinct trail in the newly fallen snow.
There was no trail and as a matter of fact the only tracks in the snow were the ones that outlined his feet where he was standing.

He began to trudge through the snow wearing what could only be described as dark brown long johns. He seemed dazed yet, at the same time, very clear about the direction that he was travelling. This boy with no identity or name seemed to be on a mission that would take him to places he had never been before.
His main goal was to reach Chemult, Oregon and he had no intention of stopping until he accomplished this. As strange as it seems the extreme cold seemed to have little or no effect on him at all.

Why Chemult? What was so special about this town located at an elevation of 4,758 feet above sea level in a frozen winter wilderness in Oregon?

The town of Chemult was first opened to the local traffic in 1926 and here in 1982, with its population of only 241, offered little in the way of comfort for a nine year old boy who was all alone. This journey, although prompted by something deep inside of him, did not provide a feeling of comfort and yet he had hoped that he would at least experience a feeling of accomplishment once he reached the town.

The wind was getting stronger and he noticed a small piece of yellow paper tattered and torn from whipping about in the snow. He only stopped long enough to pick up this paper..........it read:

.....With the winter season here there was a lot of fun to have. Travelling miles of open trails on snow mobiles skiing or simply hiking, but there are dangers of doing so. Please remember safety first. Do not travel alone and be sure someone knows where you are and where you are going before travelling our trails, and please read the safety rules and codes of ethics before hiking the trails...

Nightfall was near and he had already walked 38 of the 40 miles needed to reach Chemult. He was just off of Route 97 when he spotted an old barn just about 200 feet NE of his present location. Making his way to the barn he went in and found it to be totally deserted, it was a perfect place to rest for the night.

Morning had arrived and once awake the boy started to look around the barn in the daytime light to see if there was anything that was lying in the barn that he could use to assist him on his trek.

Over in the far corner of the barn he found an old metal locked box that had long been forgotten. It was all rusted out and the key was nowhere to be found. After several failed attempts to open the box the young boy closed his eyes, sat back on his tired limbs and placed the palm of his right hand on top of the box. All of a sudden a dull red glow appeared from his right palm and the box lid flew open. Strangely enough once the red glow disappeared all that remained was a faint thin black outline where the outside of the red mark had appeared on his palm. Inside of the box he found several items all of which were unfamiliar to him and it was obvious that they had been there for a very long time.

The contents included a tattered passport with the picture missing, a pocket knife, a compass, an antique pocket watch with a broken crystal, a time-worn souvenir porcelain coffee mug with the words; "Atlanta, Georgia, The Peach State, A Perfect Place to Live", on it and a frayed map of the Metro Atlanta Area It was difficult to make out the name on the passport but with a couple of light brushes with his fingers he saw the name Jason Tredmore. This is now who this boy would become.

HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS: Are you in your Sophomore or Junior year of high school? Now is the time to get started!

Parents, have you (or anyone you know) ever said “I’m just a bad test-taker”? Do you want your child to believe that about him/herself? If a student prepares for the SAT before taking it for the first time, he or she will forever believe that he or she is a great test-taker. What wonderful identity to have! Why not equip your child with that kind of confidence?

GOING TO GRAD SCHOOL?
Prepare for your test now so you're not rushed when your Test Day or Application deadline approaches. GMAT and GRE students can schedule their tests whenever they are ready. You get to choose!

If your goal is to earn your highest possible test scores, I can help you. I taught test-prep classes and tutored students for Kaplan Test Prep for over 4 years and have been tutoring privately for an additional 9 years. My SAT and GRE students' average score increase is 100 points PER SECTION! Would you be excited about a score increase like that?

I am pleased to offer the most elite level of tutoring to my clients at a rate lower than what they would have to pay if they had hired me through a national company like Princeton Review or Kaplan. I work individually with my students to create customized strategies for test preparation and Test Day.

It’s not too soon to think about these tests!

Please contact me ASAP so we can schedule your ideal appointment time.

"I did tell you that I ended up with 690 on the GMAT, right? It was a good score for my purposes. I am accepted at the PhD program at University of South Florida. :) Thanks for all your help."
Maia F.

"After quickly cramming for my first GMAT exam, I did not do well. I was rushing to get a Round 2 application out to the top tier B-schools and knew that I needed help. I called Carlos who met with me nearly every day for a month. I took the GMAT again on December 30th and raised my score by over 100 points!!! I applied to over 5 schools during the next week and just got accepted to Wharton Business School. I AM SO EXCITED! I could not have accomplished this without Carlos' instruction. He helped me to develop a strategy for approaching all questions and gave me the confidence in myself to succeed on test day. I will recommend Carlos' tutoring to anyone and am happy to speak to anyone looking for a reference (just ask Carlos for my e-mail...). Carlos, thanks again!!!"
Jennifer C.

"When I was studying for the GMAT, I knew the basics of math. However, Carlos helped me get to the next level and improve my test score by more than 200 points! Thanks Carlos!"
Juanita P.

"I got a 710. I could not have come close to this score without your help and encouragement. You're an excellent tutor, and if there's anything I can do to help (serve as a reference), etc. just let me know. (For example, you can now say you've raised a GMAT score from 620 to 710). Thanks for EVERYTHING."
Jon S.

"Carlos is an incredible math tutor. He has an incredible grasp of math concepts, and he can explain difficult material in creative and easy to understand ways. When I started studying with Carlos I was getting around 660 consistently on the GMAT with a math score in the 60th percentile. By the time I took the test, I had scored as high as a 770, with my math scores well over the 90th percentile."

Do you or anyone you know need help with Math??? Get help from the top man in town. My name is Mr. Burton aka "Professor B". My background is Electrical Engineering so math is my forte. I work as a College Professor, a contract Math teacher, and a Professional Tutor. I tutor all subjects in math from elementary math up through Calculus and test like the CBEST,CAHSEE,and SAT. I have had students who where very far behind in class. I got them caught up, emproved their grades, and taught them the rest of the material myself. Once I get you to the point where I teach you, you'll be at least a week ahead of your class and you'll always know whats happening. I vowed to make the math so easy that you will be totally relieved. Let me use my knowledge, expertise, and years of sacrificing myself, to make your life much easier.

Testimonials:

"We hired Professor Burton to tutor my 14 year old ADHD son in algebra over several weeks during the 2007 summer. We got excellent progress and results in a difficult situation, so that my 19 y/o daughter asked him to help her prepare for university math tests, with equally good results. We maintain contact to cover any contingency problems. Highly recommended" --Attorney at Law

"I got in over my head in a college math class that I didn't realize had a prerequisite recommended before I enrolled. One of the key concepts comprised 50% of my grade, and I just couldn't figure it out. Fortunately, I contacted Professor Burton and with his help, not only passed the class, but I got an A! His tutoring saved me time, stress, and money that made his fee worth every penny and more." -ENS Dana Rockot, USN

"Mr. B was a great inspiration and "coach" in preparation for the CBEST. He provided motivational guidance and offered tips and tricks that helped lower the stress level....all those little things, like assigning homework, prividing practice "sample" problems, and labeling index cards for drill. He persevered in making sure you mastered a concept. His personal persistance helped me pass the CBEST test." --L. Cummins Educator
